…we fully appreciate Gibbons Naylor working in with the tenant to include the fitout in and around the base-build works and would also like to note the high standard of finish, completed on time, and obtaining CPU acceptance.

High-quality base build and fitout of the first Joe’s Garage restaurant in the Nelson region.

Joe’s Garage Berryfields is a restaurant in the Berryfields Crossing development in Richmond West, just out of Nelson. Our Gibbons Naylor team completed the base build and fitout, with the fitout integrated into the base build during construction once the tenant was confirmed as Joe’s Garage.

The exterior consists of exposed structural steel trusses that are visible both inside and out. The cladding is made up of Eurotray roofing and wall cladding, aluminium interlocking panels, hardwood spotted gum shiplap weatherboards, and polycarbonate translucent vertical cladding. The spotted gum weatherboards were milled from reclaimed hardwood power poles and are expected to last for 40 years with minimal maintenance. The courtyard is encapsulated by a large precast concrete panel planter with an artificial grass area.

The interior comprises of a polished concrete floor and decorative plywood in the front of house area. All structural elements and the mechanical system are exposed to reflect the signature “garage” feel of the restaurant. The back of house commercial kitchen features durable HardieGlaze walls and a vinyl floor.

With the restaurant’s opening date locked in, it was all hands on deck to complete the project on time. The client appreciated the additional help our team gave to help them navigate through the variations, wrap up the completion documentation, and secure CPU.
